Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of GutDecode, operated by Ashkan Hatef ("GutDecode," "we," "us," or "our") at gutdecode.ashketing.com. By creating an account or using GutDecode in any way, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using GutDecode — including uploading a test result, generating a meal plan, or purchasing a subscription — you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, have read and understood these Terms, and agree to be bound by them. If you are using GutDecode on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. Description of Service
GutDecode is a gut health test interpretation tool. You upload results from any gut microbiome test provider — such as Viome, Thryve, Biomesight, or a hospital lab — and GutDecode analyzes your biomarker data to produce:
- Plain-language explanations of your gut microbiome markers and bacterial diversity scores
- Identification of biomarkers that fall outside optimal reference ranges for your panel
- Personalized meal plans naming specific foods, portions, and dietary priorities based on your results
- Grocery lists and, on higher-tier plans, recipe guidance and progress tracking over multiple tests
GutDecode is a software tool, not a healthcare provider. The outputs we generate are informational and educational in nature. See Section 5 (Health Disclaimer) for critical limitations.
3. User Accounts
You may create an account using your email address or via Google OAuth. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to update it if your circumstances change. You may not share your account with others, create multiple accounts to circumvent plan limits, or use GutDecode to process results for third parties without their explicit consent.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or abuse the service.
4. Subscription and Payments
GutDecode offers several plans: a free tier, a one-time Single Report purchase, and recurring Pro and Premium subscriptions billed monthly or annually. All payments are processed securely by Stripe.
5. Health Disclaimer
GutDecode is not a medical device. Nothing on this platform constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
The biomarker interpretations and meal plans generated by GutDecode are informational tools based on general nutritional science and the ranges provided by your test provider. They are not a substitute for professional medical advice from a licensed physician, registered dietitian, or other qualified healthcare provider.
Do not use GutDecode's output to self-diagnose or to make decisions about medications, supplements, or medical treatments without first consulting a qualified healthcare professional. If you have a diagnosed medical condition — including but not limited to inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn's disease, celiac disease, diabetes, or any other gastrointestinal disorder — please work with your doctor before making dietary changes based on our output.
GutDecode makes no representations or warranties about the clinical accuracy of any third-party gut test provider's results. We interpret the data you provide; we do not verify or validate the underlying laboratory methods.
6. Intellectual Property
GutDecode and all associated software, algorithms, design, and content are owned by Ashkan Hatef and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from any part of the GutDecode service without our prior written consent.
You retain ownership of any health data and test results you upload. By uploading content to GutDecode, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process that data for the sole purpose of providing you with the interpretation and meal plan you requested. We do not claim ownership of your health data.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, GutDecode and Ashkan Hatef shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of health outcomes, dietary harm, loss of data, or lost profits — arising from your use of or inability to use the service.
Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the service shall not exceed the amount you paid to GutDecode in the 12 months preceding the claim.
GutDecode is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
8. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Upon deletion, we retain your data for 90 days to allow you to export it, then permanently delete it.
We may suspend or terminate your access to GutDecode immediately and without notice if you violate these Terms, engage in conduct harmful to other users or to GutDecode, or if required to do so by law. In such cases, no refund will be issued for any unused portion of a paid subscription.
9. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of GutDecode after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you should stop using the service and cancel your subscription.
